CS2 commend bots: how they work, and how to spot a bad one

A commend bot is a set of real Steam accounts that join a Counter-Strike 2 server with you and commend you from inside the game. That is the whole trick, and understanding it tells you almost everything else — including why some services ask you for things no commend bot could ever need.
Why a bot has to play with you
CS2 only lets you commend someone you were just in a match with. There is no button anywhere that adds a commend to a stranger, no API for it, and no way to grant one from outside the game. Valve built it that way on purpose — a commend is meant to mean I played with this person and they were good to play with.
So every commend bot works the same way underneath: accounts connect to a server, you connect to the same server, and they commend you the way any teammate would. Anything claiming to skip that step is describing something the game does not allow.
This is the single most common reason commends "don’t work". If you are sitting in the main menu, there is nobody to commend you. You have to actually be connected.
The three types
Every commend carries three separate counters, and they show on your profile independently:
- Friendly — the one most people notice first, and the one that sits at the top.
- Teacher — for players who call things out and help the team.
- Leader — the rarest of the three in normal play.
A single commend action can carry all three at once. That matters commercially: a service billing you separately per type is charging you three times for one thing the game does in one step. Ours carries all three on every send, which is why the price is the same whether you want one type or all of them.
What a commend bot should never ask for
This is the useful part, and it works as a checklist against any service in this space, including us. A commend bot needs your public profile link and nothing else. If it asks for any of the following, close the tab:
- Your Steam password. There is nothing to log into. A commend is given to your account by other accounts — yours is never touched.
- A download, "checker", or config. Everything a commend bot does happens on its own machines and in the game server. There is nothing to install.
- A Steam sign-in, even the real OpenID one. It is not needed to read a public profile, and it is the step that makes a phishing page look legitimate.
The reason this list is short is that a commend genuinely is a low-stakes thing: a public rating on a public profile. That is also why it needs so little from you. Any request beyond a profile URL is a request for something the service does not need to do the job.
Do commend bots get you banned?
Commends are a normal part of Counter-Strike 2 and carry no penalty of their own. They are given by real accounts inside real matches, which is the only mechanism the game offers. There is no exploit involved and nothing is injected into your client.
We are an independent service and not affiliated with or endorsed by Valve, so treat anyone promising you a guarantee about Valve’s behaviour with suspicion — including in the other direction. Nobody outside Valve can promise you either way.
Free bots vs paid ones
Free commend bots exist, ours included, and they are a reasonable way to see whether the thing works at all before any money changes hands. The honest difference is volume rather than quality — the same bots and the same servers deliver both.
A free tier is capped per Steam account. A paid bundle is a balance you spend across as many runs and as many profiles as you like, so it suits someone who wants a visible number on their profile rather than a demonstration.
Whichever you pick, delivery is never instant and should not be advertised as such. Bots join a few at a time and commend in batches — a large order lands gradually over a while, not in a single burst.
What good delivery looks like
- You can see progress while it runs, rather than being told to wait and hope.
- Commends that do not land are credited back so you can send them again — a run cut short by leaving the server should cost you nothing.
- The service tells you plainly that you need to be connected, before you pay rather than after.
- There is a real support route. Ours is a Discord ticket.
