How to get commends in CS2 (free and paid)

Commends can only come from players who were just in a match with you, so every method below is really a different answer to the same question: how do you get enough people in a lobby to remember the commend screen exists?
1. Just ask
Free, and more effective than people assume. Most players never commend anyone — not out of malice, but because the screen appears for a few seconds at the end of a match and nothing prompts them.
- Be worth commending first. Call things out, do not rage, do not throw when the half goes badly.
- Ask once, near the end, in text chat. "commends?" is enough — a paragraph reads as begging.
- Commend them back. People reciprocate far more often when you go first.
The ceiling is low, though. A good session might get you a handful, and only from the four people on your team who were paying attention.
2. Community servers
Busy 24/7 servers — surf, retake, KZ, deathmatch — put you in front of far more people per hour than matchmaking does, and the regulars tend to be friendlier about it. Some communities have an informal commend-swap culture.
It is slow, but it costs nothing and the commends come from real players who genuinely played with you.
3. A commend service
A service runs a pool of accounts that join a server with you and commend you there. It is the same mechanism as method one — real accounts, in a real match — just without waiting on strangers to remember.
The part that surprises people is that you still have to be in the match. The bots have to meet you somewhere. Any service claiming it can add commends to a profile without you connecting to anything is describing something the game does not allow.
If a site asks for your password or a Steam sign-in to send commends, close it. Neither is needed. A public profile link is enough.

How long it takes
Commends arrive gradually rather than all at once. The accounts join a few at a time, send, and rotate — so a large order is a background job you leave running, not a five-minute one. A healthy delivery will sit still for minutes at a time between batches; that is the pause between groups, not a fault.
The one thing that reliably breaks a delivery is leaving the server. Anything that does not land while you are connected is credited back, so nothing is lost — but you will have to send it again.
Is there a limit?
There is no cap on how many commends a profile can hold, and they never expire. Our free tier is capped at 20 per Steam account so that it stays free for everyone; paid bundles are not capped.
