Do CS2 commends affect Trust Factor?
Trust Factor · 5 min read · Updated 6 August 2026
Short version: nobody can promise you a number. Valve has never published what feeds Trust Factor, and anyone who tells you a specific amount of commends produces a specific result is guessing or selling.
What is clear is the direction, and that is worth understanding properly.
What Trust Factor is
Trust Factor is the system Counter-Strike 2 uses to decide who you get matched with. It replaced the old Prime-only split with something broader: rather than one flag, it weighs a range of signals about your account and behaviour, then tries to put you in lobbies with people whose signals look similar.
You cannot see your own score. There is no number in the client, no API, and no page that reveals it. All you get is the felt experience — matches that go smoothly, or matches full of people who seem to be there to ruin it.
What is known to feed it
Valve has described the inputs only in general terms, and community observation fills in the rest. The signals people consistently point to:
- Time played, and how long the account has existed
- Reports received from other players — the big negative
- Abandons and kicks
- Whether the account has Prime status
- Overall Steam account health: games owned, activity, VAC history on record
- Positive signals from other players, which is where commends sit
Where commends fit
Commends are the opposite of the reports and abandons that drag Trust Factor down, and they are widely treated as one of the positive signals on an account. A profile with healthy commend counts and no report history is the profile Trust Factor is designed to reward.
That is a direction, not a formula. Commends are one input among many, and they will not outweigh a pile of recent reports or a habit of abandoning matches.
We can put the commends on your profile. What Valve does with them is Valve’s call — and any service claiming otherwise is telling you something it cannot know.
What actually fixes red trust
If your matches have gone bad, commends alone are not the whole answer. The things that move the needle most are the ones that stop the negative signals:
- Stop abandoning. Finish matches, even losing ones — this is the fastest own goal to stop scoring.
- Get Prime if you do not have it.
- Play consistently for a while. Signals are historical; a week of clean matches carries more than a day.
- Avoid being reported — which mostly means not raging in chat, not team-damaging, and not throwing.
- Build the positive side too, which is where commends come in.
Treat commends as one part of an account that looks healthy overall, rather than a switch that flips your matchmaking.
Will buying commends hurt my account?
Commends are a normal part of Counter-Strike 2 and carry no penalty. They are given inside matches by real accounts, which is the only way the game permits. That said, we are an independent service and not affiliated with or endorsed by Valve.
You can try it without paying anything — 20 free commends, no login and no download.
